Have you ever wondered what you can do for daring amusement in Egypt?

Egypt is the land of diversity. If you’re visiting Egypt to discover what makes it stand out from other countries, then you’re in the right place. We’re going to provide you with some of the best activities you can’t miss during your stay that we believe you might have never heard about either.

Here are some activities for the adventurer travelers that you probably didn’t know about in Egypt.

1. Hot air balloon:

“Egypt is considered one of the leading countries in the field of flying balloons, as it occupies the second place in the world after the United States of America, due to its stable weather and impressive landscapes” Egypttoday.com

If you are courageous and dig heights then you’ll probably enjoy a balloon ride across the city of Luxor. You’ll be enjoying the spectacular sunrise, the view of the valley of kings and the ancient city from up high in the sky. It is just breathtaking!

When you first reach the hot air balloon base, you’ll be fascinated by the magical view for the hot air balloons and the diversity of colors you’ll catch sight of.

Although, keep in mind that the driver of a hot air balloon is called a pilot not a driver!

You’ll need to hop on the inside area of the balloon which is called a Basket. It easily seats six to eight people including the pilot himself, sometimes even more on busy days. Just a reminder, there are no seats in there.

It’ll be a smooth ride for about an hour, there are plenty of sceneries to enjoy from above so remember to keep your mobile or camera close by.

Finally, after your wonderful ride starts landing. The balloons will take a while longer than you expect to adjust into the right position but it’s worth it.

2. Skydiving:

Now we’re going to take you up in the air and then jump. Weeee!

Skydiving over the pyramids is where the past meets the future. Just imagine skydiving from a plane over the pyramids of Giza. What a view!

Egypt hosted the largest skydiving event ever last year in 2021 “Jump like a pharaoh” and included professional jumpers from all over the world.

“It is the biggest number ever of skydivers gathered in one Egyptian festival at the Giza plateau. It has not happened before in any skydiving event” Yehia El-Jafari

Anyone can jump even if you’re not a pro, but it requires a nerve.

Here are some Skydiving centers in Egypt:

  1. Skydive High
  2. Alia parachuting and skydiving
  3. Skydive Pharaohs
  4. IFly Egypt
  5. Mersal Air Sport

3. Sand boarding:

What’s the first thing that pops into your mind when we say sand boarding?

The “desert” maybe?

EXACTLY!!

Egypt’s landscape is mainly deserts that occupy 96% of the land including some oasis, which makes it the perfect environment for our next activity.

Hop on your transportation and let’s start our next adventure across the deserts of “Wadi El Rayan” or “El Rayan Valley”.

Wadi El Rayan is located in El Fayoum Governorate, which is about a two-hour drive from the Capital Cairo.

“It’s one of Egypt’s oldest cities, possibly the world and it was the seat of worship of the crocodile God (Sobek)”. Fayoum Egypt.com

Wear a hat to shield you from the heat, add some sunscreen and stay hydrated. But most of all, Go Nuts!

Egyptians and tourists mainly visit El Fayoum for its Sand boarding activities while it’s not the only attraction in there, here is a list of some top attractions in El Fayoum:

  1. Wadi Al-Hitan (Valley of Wales).
  2. Lake Qarun.
  3. Pyramid of Hawara.
  4. Fayoum Pottery School in Tunis village.
  5. Obelisk of Senusret.

4. Safari:

Do you have a need for speed?

The word “Safari” means an expedition in Swahili. It’s an expedition through the deserts.

It’s usually present in:

Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Siwa Oasis & Marsa Alam.

You can ride 4X4 Cars or beach buggies, you’ll start your journey by riding one of these vehicles through a certain route that will be explained to you by your tour leader.

You should wear goggles or sunglasses to protect your eyes from the dust because it will be a lot, if you don’t have don’t worry, they’ll give one. Also, you should wear a scarf on top of your head and over your nose and mouth so that sand and dust won’t get through, and don’t be nervous, they’ll show you how to wrap it around.

After a while of riding, you will reach the “Bedouin village” where you’ll Experience the traditional life of the “Badu” (people who live in the deserts of Egypt) where you’ll taste the traditional Arabic tea alongside some Bedouin dishes.

There will be some activities you can enjoy like camel riding alongside some Shows like Belly dancing and Tanoura. Maybe we’ll leave the rest as a surprise. It’s a lot of fun that you shouldn’t miss!

5. Diving:

Finally, we’ve reached our last activity.

Diving opens up a portal for another life under the sea filled with marvelous creatures and colorful aquatic plants. Its beauty is magical.

Did you know that Egypt is ranked as the 2nd scuba diving destination in the world?!

Once you dive for the first time you won’t get enough of it and you’ll come again for sure.

“Most dive clubs in Egypt offers PADI certification, though you’ll occasionally find NAUI, SSI, CMAS and BSAC as well” Lonely Planet Egypt Book

It’s not a must to have a certification for diving, but most diving centers require one.

And if you’re a beginner don’t be nervous, you’ll start training at a pool first then one step at a time you’ll find yourself at the sea.

Here are some of the best diving spots we recommend for you:

  1. Brothers Islands, Hurghada.
  2. Shark and Yolanda Reef, Sharm El Sheikh.
  3. Blue Lagoon, Dahab.
  4. SS Thistlegorm, Sharm El Sheikh.
  5. Elphinstone El Quseir.
